Louvre Museum

The massive museum of Louvre can’t be given with only one description. Louvre is practically composed of two museums in terms of structure development: the 17th century structure Louvre and the Pyramid architecture of Louvre. Each has their own story and each will have their own development. These stories contribute to what is now the greatness of Louvre Museum. Aside from the great pieces of art that you will see in the museum, the structure itself is something to behold. You might be waiting in line to get inside the museum but you’ll have a great time looking at the structure.

The original Louvre Architecture is not the same as it is today. The Louvre was first built during the 13th century and it was nothing more than a fortress. It was ordered by Phillip II Augustus so that Paris will be protected from invaders. It was only expanded during the 14th century and was eventually made bigger but not as big today during the 16th century. It was through the order of Francis I that this 16th century structure showed some of its renaissance beauty.

The structure was not really built as a Louvre only. Part of the structure today is the Palace of Tuilereis designed Philbert Delorme from the 16th century. After the construction of the Palace, they decided to connect two structures with the series of buildings. It’s yet the same as it is today. 17th century saw another construction that was ordered by Louis XIII. This time to seal the beauty of Louvre which it has to become one the best structures in Paris.

The architecture of Louvre is a classic Baroque architecture. From the inside you’ll be able to see the ideal Baroque structure which is basically large structures with very wide windows. Numerous arched windows in the palace and the Dome right in the center of the series of buildings is really impressive. You’ll need more than a day to appreciate the works of art in the building and another day for the structure. There are also tours available where you will be able to see the medieval part of the structure and the progress on how did it become something like this magnificent.

The other part of Louvre is the modern and the more sensational. The Pyramid Structure of Louvre is a beautiful glass structure with a tip that reaches 71 feet from its base. I.M Pei, a renowned architecture was commissioned with this task. It’s a great challenge since the architect should not just create something beautiful but it should also be complimentary to the already great structure of Louvre. When he was able to finish the plan, the people don’t like it when it was presented to them. However, Pei was able to convince the people that it should work out when the architect actually built a replica with the same size.

The two structure of Louvre is now a thing of beauty that represents the past of the present. You’ll always have something to look at right from the entrance.
